Group 2: World Language

IB FRENCH HL & SL*
Grade: 11 & 12 (2 year course + May Exam)

During the two years of the International Baccalaureate Program, students will complete their inventory of advanced grammatical structure and verb tenses. At the same time, they will sharpen their speaking and writing skills in preparation for the oral and written examinations of the IB. Students will extend their knowledge of the literature, film, music, current events, and culture of the francophone world. Special emphasis will be placed on topics which are important to adolescents, such as technology, entertainment, social issues and the environment.

IB SPANISH HL & SL*

Grade: 11 & 12 (2 year course + May Exam)

The main focus of these course is language acquisition and the development of the four skills: speaking, writing, listening, and reading. Students are given the opportunity of developing a high degree of competence in the target language and of exploring the culture using the language. Students learn to express themselves in a wide range of purposes and situations, such as the domain of work, social relationships, and the discussion of abstract ideas. Students will be competent in three interrelated areas: language (grammar, vocabulary, etc.); cultural interaction; and message (understanding ideas and how to communicate them appropriately).
