Golden Apple Recipients for April

Capuchino High School Instructional Assistant Arlene Mitchell was selected as the recipient of the April 2025 Classified Golden Apple. Arlene has been with the District for 25 years!

Capuchino High School Dean of Students, Tim Netane, was selected as the recipient of the April 2025 Certificated Golden Apple. Tim has been with the District for eight years!

New Volunteer Clearance Process

Balancing the ease of volunteer clearance while safeguarding our students is our primary goal. Our new four-tier volunteer clearance process should minimize volunteer confusion, centralize the process, provide transparency, and ensure volunteers meet the proper level of clearance. Volunteers will be reimbursed for any expenses related to Livescan fingerprinting and supervision certification.

CHS Spotlight and Opportunities

IB Science Showcase

On Wednesday, May 21, 2025 IB students presented their Internal Assessments, which were transformed into scientific posters, to the CHS/SMUHSD community. Experiments ranged from the effect of hand sanitizers and hand soaps on inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis to how types of water affects radish seed growth. CHS teachers emphasize experimental work by providing students with opportunities to design investigations; collect data; develop manipulative skills; analyze results; collaborate with peers; and evaluate and communicate their findings.
