National School Counseling Week: February 3-7

SMUHSD wishes to recognize and highlight our comprehensive school counseling programs' tremendous impact in supporting students' emotional learning, academic success, and planning for their education and/or career once they graduate.

In our District, there are 29 school site School Counselors with eight Comprehensive School Counseling Programs.

SMUHSD Comprehensive School Counseling Programs focus on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, career and social/emotional development.

Thank you to our school counselors. We are so grateful for all that you do!

Parents/Guardians: Please Take the Panorama Survey

The Panorama Survey is issued to parents and guardians, students and staff of the San Mateo Union High School District every year. Each of these groups is given a survey unique to their group.

The District is issuing this survey, because we want to know what each of these groups think about their experience in our schools.

We want to know your thoughts and opinions on:

  • School culture and climate
  • Communications from the District/school to you
  • Opportunities for engagement with your school community

The parent/guardian survey takes about 14 minutes to complete. You can also take the survey in Spanish.

New Volunteer Clearance Process

Balancing the ease of volunteer clearance while safeguarding our students is our primary goal. Our new four-tier volunteer clearance process should minimize volunteer confusion, centralize the process, provide transparency, and ensure volunteers meet the proper level of clearance. Volunteers will be reimbursed for any expenses related to Livescan fingerprinting and supervision certification.

San Bruno Lions Speech Competition

On Tuesday, February 4th, Capuchino Junior Trystan Pascual placed first, and Anchal Prasad placed third in the San Bruno Lions Speech Competition.

The competition showcased an array of talented speakers debating the thought-provoking topic, “Is Artificial Intelligence a Friend or Foe?” We are incredibly proud of our students' hard work and dedication.

Trystan will advance to the next regional competition on February 27th, and we wish him the best of luck as he continues to represent CHS!
