A Review on Author Mary E. Pearson |
| On Oct 6, 2008, our Capuchino High School students from Ms. Henry’s class and members of the Book Club got to meet the author of The Adoration of Jenna Fox, Mary C. Pearson. Ms. Pearson was glad to meet our students and also glad to share her stories with us. The Adoration of Jenna Fox is a book about a 15-year old girl who wakes up from a yearlong coma. She has no idea who she is, what her name is, and how she got into an accident. She has to learn the things which a child learns; she also has to uncover some things coming along her journey of discovery. Ms. Pearson came up with an idea of writing such a story as she had a dream of a girl in a pond trying to remember something. The girl was looking in the river in an intense way that Ms. Pearson could see that she was trying to uncover something, and right then, Ms. Pearson got the idea of writing a story on a girl. Ms. Pearson told us that her own daughter had |

cancer and what she camethrough from her daughter’s cancer was explained clearly in her book The Adoration of Jenna Fox. Ms. Pearson learned a lot about the brain because of her daughter’s condition and told us that there is also a butterfly in your cerebellum (brain), which was a major symbol of her book. Capuchino’s students were quite glad to meet Mary E. Pearson and hear her stories about her other book. Thank you, Ms. Henry, Book Club coordinator, for inviting Ms. Pearson and sharing The Adoration of Jenna Fox with us.
