Scholarships and Financial Aid

Financial aid doesn't just happen. You have to make it happen. During the coming year you'll need to:

  • - research sources of aid
    - complete applications
    - write essays
    - and meet many deadlines

There will be disappointments as well as successes. The important thing to remember is DO NOT BECOME DISCOURAGED. This handbook is a tool for you to use to help you toward success.

Parts of a Financial Aid Package:

  • - Grants/Scholarships--These funds are awarded on basis of need or achievement and need NOT be repaid.
    - Loans-- These must be repaid upon graduation and usually have a low interest rate. These loans are from the Federal Government. Also, your local bank will finance student loans.
    - Work-Study--This involves earning money from a job on campus that has been arragned by the financial aid office of your college.
    - Parent/Student Contribution--This amount is figured through a fairly complicated process called a "Needs Analysis."
