Resizing and Editing Images in Photoshop

1.     Open Photoshop use File>Open and locate the image you would like to edit.

2.    Once the image opens make a duplicate of the image so that you can work on a layer that is unlocked. Go to Layer > Duplicate Layer

3.    Go to Image > Image Size and notice the current aspect ratio of your image.

4.    For an image to take up the full screen adjust the aspect ratio in pixels by clicking in the boxes and changing the pixel values to:

IMOVIE  = 720 x 540

FCP 720 x 486

(Note-the constrain proportions box keeps the aspect ration of height and width the same when only one of the values is changed. To change just one value and not the other, click the constrain proportion window off.)

5. Once the size has been changed, save the changes as a jpeg file by going to File> Save As

and selecting JPEG as the file format.

6. Now you are ready to import the file into either Imovie or FCP.
