Exposure refers to how much light is entering the lens.
Over-exposed = too much light, under-exposed = too dark
The aperture determines the image
exposure.
In bright light, use small aperture.
In low light, use large aperture.
Increasing aperture decreases Depth
of Field
The aperture is controlled by the iris.

F-stop indicates size of lens aperture


Large f-stop = small aperture

Small f-stop = large aperture

Professionals like manual iris because they have more control over the exposure of light. Auto iris is not popular with professionals because it over reacts with light backgrounds and they don’t have control.
