Compositing Project

This project is designed to have you create a composite combining layers in photoshop and video in final cut pro. Your composite needs to incorporate all the new skills you learned from the compositing tutorial you just finished. Your animation can be used as an opener for a demo reel of your work or for the start of your next project which is the music video. You may also create your own cartoon animation or an animation to be used in your music video. The choice is yours.

Once you've completed your composite project, fill out the Compositing Critique.

Your project must include the following:
a. 20 sec to 1 Minute in Length
b. Animated background
c. Green screen footage of yourself
d. Minimum of 5 layers created in photoshop and animated in FCP
e. A title of your name, piece or produciton company
f. Animated title or graphic sequence as in the titles in the tutorial
g. Background Music
h. Optional- still images from the internet or pictures
i. A storyline of some kind that relates to your production logo- beginning, middle, end- it can be abstract or realistic, you decide.
(consider all the elements used in Lindsay Hop tutorial and create your own)

Directions:
1st- Create a rough storyboard of your animation’s objects and sequence.
If you are telling a story with your animation think of your characters or plot.
Consider what images you will need to create for your story.
What action shots will you need for the green screen?
Close-ups, waist shots, etc.
What images will you need to find on line?
Use the storyboard on the website.
Gather footage after your storyboard has been completed.
This includes the images and video footage in front of the green screen.

2nd Use Photoshop to Create a minimum of 5 layers (like the circles and the background in the tutorial) that will be used in your piece by:
a. creating a layer yourself by using the paint tool or pencil tool
b. create a layer by using the selection tool and the paint bucket
c. create a layer by going on-line and finding an image and downloading an image to the desktop and moving it into your photoshop layers.

3rd Import all layers into Final Cut and begin Animating.
a. Total time of project must be between 20 to 60 seconds.
b. All layers must be incorporated into your piece.
c. Review the old tutorial and incorporate some of the techniques and tips you learned with titles, changes in opacity, movement of objects, filters, etc.
