Features:

  • These segments refer to profiles and reports on teachers, staff and students.
  • These are one-time opportunities to highlight a program, field trip, club, or event. Concerts, musicals, play performances and Sports features on specific teams
  • These pieces are also used in the video yearbook are also examples.
  • Rallies and Guest Speakers

Series:

These are monthly or weekly recurring formats that discuss a certain theme, issue or topic. These pieces also have “branding” which is a catchy opener or presentation style that introduces the piece. This can be used every time we air this type of segment. Possible examples include:

  • Cap Perspectives- a glance at a opinions of cap students on different issues
  • Booktalks- short blurbs by students on their outside reading
  • Cap Fashion- a glimpse into latest styles and trends in clothing, hairstyle, etc…
  • Student of the Month- a piece that highlights nominees for student of the month
  • Fitness/Food/Health- a series on health relate d issues and diets
  • Mystery Person- this is a game that gives students hints about a person and the winner must figure out the inorder to win spirit points? for their class.
  • Tongue Twisters/ Word Puzzule/Odd facial expressions/ Impersonations
  • Behind the Scenes (Cribs) at Cap- spotlight on rooms, lockers etc.
  • Relationships/Friendships- DR. Ruth…or Dear Abby…
  • This Day In History/Science/Mathematics/English
  • Today’s Random Thought or Fact/Bizarre Photo or World Event
  • Artist and Musical and Drama Spot Light-
  • Entertainment- Music and movie reviews w/student surveys
  • Sports Wrap/Update-
  • ESLR Update-Warm-UP-Practice Questions/Trivia
  • PSA’s- Spoof Ads
  • Top Ten List-
  • Openers and Closers

The key to keeping all these segment ideas interesting and entertaining is getting a wide variety of responses from a diverse perspective of students on campus. DO NOT KEEP INTERVIEWING THE SAME PEOPLE!!!!!
