Homecoming '08

The sun had not risen yet over the campus, the cold was still hanging in the air, and there were 30 Capuchino students dressed in their Leadership jerseys. Were these students crazy for showing up so early? No, they were the Leadership students, who were eager to put on Homecoming 2008! Although there were some BIG changes to this year’s Homecoming, the excitement of defeating Jefferson would never change. Although the Mustangs haven’t won a Homecoming game since 2005, this year, the Mustangs beat the Jefferson Indians, 33-22. Although the game was a highlight for mostly everyone’s day, no one couldn’t forget the outrageous games and activities that happened during the week prior to the game. This year’s nominees for Homecoming court had to campaign and participate there way throughout the entire week, in order to have a chance of being on the ballot for Friday. Some events which include Mud Pie Eating Contests, Kite Flying, and Go Kart Racing throughout the entire Spirit Court. Each had to wear a golden sash throughout the week, as they dressed in their spirit week wear. This year the spirit days were more successful than ever from days such as Pajama Day, Toga Day, Color War, Opposite Day, and Green/Gold Day. It was Friday, and the student body was pumped for this year’s rally as they entire student body dressed in their best green and gold. The theme for this year’s Homecoming was “Go Green or Go Home” taking on a double meaning as showing Cap spirit and dealing with the 4 basic elements which are earth, wind, water and fire. This year’s rally included the “Coolest” person at Cap, obstacle courses, and of course Roll Call! Some of the football game festivities included a parade where everyone at Cap had an opportunity to march around with their class and their class murals that each class council made for the week. The parade even included a LIVE mustang, provided by Brittany McGinnis, and of course cheerleaders, mascots, and the marching band. At half-time the king and queen were announced by Capuchino’s ASB President, Ben Dieterle, awarding the honor to Vincent Costanzo and Marlene Anicete. Leadership would like to thank all those who participated in Homecoming court, and congratulate all the winners of the 2008 Homecoming court. In addition, Leadership would also like to thank everyone who had helped them prepare for the events for Homecoming as well as every student that participated in all the events Leadership hosted throughout the week. GO MUSTANGS!
